What craniosacral therapy is — and what it is not
Craniosacral therapy belongs to complementary therapy. Through very light, precisely dosed touches to the skull, spine and pelvis we address your autonomic nervous system. You lie clothed on the treatment table; the touches are minimal and non-manipulative. Many clients experience the method as deeply relaxing. It is a supportive method and does not replace medical diagnostics.
When it can provide support
Craniosacral therapy can provide supportive care for stress-related complaints, chronic tension headaches, sleep problems with a tension component or during post-operative recovery. Especially with persistent inner tension, many people find the subtle stimuli soothing. One clear boundary: acute mental health crises belong in the hands of medical specialists or psychotherapists.
At our practice in Kloten
At Steinackerstrasse 41 in Kloten you will be treated by Genny Crameri, our EMR-recognised craniosacral therapist, for whom this method is a particular passion. During the initial assessment we clarify transparently whether craniosacral therapy suits your situation, and refer you to a more suitable specialist if needed, rather than offering it as a primary treatment. Where useful, we combine it with massage and lymphatic drainage.
Frequently asked questions
What is craniosacral therapy?
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on method from complementary therapy. With fine, precisely dosed touches to the skull, spine and pelvis we address the autonomic nervous system. The touches are minimal and non-manipulative — many clients experience the treatment as deeply relaxing, with calmer breathing already during the session.
Who is craniosacral therapy suitable for?
The method can provide supportive care for stress-related complaints, chronic tension headaches, sleep problems with a tension component or during post-operative recovery. It is a supportive method and does not replace medical diagnostics or psychotherapy. During the initial assessment we clarify with you whether it suits your situation.
Is craniosacral therapy covered by insurance?
Craniosacral therapy is recognised via supplementary insurance (EMR-recognised) — not via basic health insurance (KVG). Whether and to what extent your supplementary insurance covers the costs depends on your individual plan. We recommend clarifying this with your insurer before the first session.
How many sessions make sense?
Typically 4–6 sessions spread over a few weeks. If you notice no subjective change after the first sessions, we adjust the plan together or refer you to a more suitable specialist. A session usually lasts 40 to 60 minutes.
